Manchester City have learned their opponents and full fixture schedule for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase, with some huge European nights ahead at the Etihad Stadium and across the continent.

City will face eight different opponents during the league phase, playing four fixtures at home and four away as Enzo Maresca’s side look to secure a place in the knockout stages.

Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, Sporting CP and AEK Athens will all travel to the Etihad Stadium, while City face away trips to Barcelona, Porto, RB Leipzig and Lens.

Here’s everything you need to know about Manchester City’s 2026/27 Champions League draw, including their opponents, confirmed fixtures, biggest games and home hospitality opportunities.

Manchester City Champions League Draw

Manchester City have been handed a varied set of opponents for the 2026/27 Champions League league phase, including some of the biggest clubs in European football.

Manchester City home opponents:

  • Paris Saint-Germain
  • Sporting CP
  • Napoli
  • AEK Athens

Manchester City away opponents:

  • Barcelona
  • Porto
  • RB Leipzig
  • Lens

City’s draw includes heavyweight meetings with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as difficult fixtures against Napoli, Porto and RB Leipzig.

Manchester City’s Champions League Home Fixtures

Four Champions League league phase matches will take place at the Etihad Stadium during the 2026/27 campaign.

Manchester City v Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain’s visit to Manchester is the standout home fixture from City’s Champions League draw.

The two clubs have become familiar opponents in recent European competition, including memorable meetings in both the group stage and knockout rounds.

With two squads packed with elite talent, Manchester City v PSG should be one of the most anticipated Champions League fixtures at the Etihad this season.

Manchester City v Paris Saint-Germain takes place on 14 October 2026.

Manchester City v AEK Athens

AEK Athens will travel to the Etihad Stadium for City’s second home game of the league phase.

While the Greek side may not carry the same profile as some of City’s other opponents, the new league phase format places significant importance on every result.

City will therefore be looking to make home advantage count when AEK Athens arrive in Manchester.

Manchester City v Napoli

Napoli’s visit to the Etihad is another of City’s standout European fixtures.

The Italian side have established themselves as a major force domestically and in European competition, making this one of the more challenging home tests in City’s league phase schedule.

With both teams known for technically strong, attacking football, this should be another compelling Champions League night in Manchester.

Manchester City v Napoli takes place on 24 November 2026.

Manchester City v Sporting CP

Manchester City conclude their Champions League league phase campaign at home against Sporting CP.

With Matchday 8 taking place simultaneously across Europe, there could be plenty at stake when the Portuguese side visit the Etihad Stadium.

Depending on City’s position in the league table, the fixture could play an important role in determining whether they qualify directly for the Round of 16.

Manchester City’s Biggest Champions League Fixtures

City’s Champions League draw has produced several major European fixtures.

The trip to Barcelona immediately stands out. Few away fixtures in European football carry the same profile, and City’s visit on 8 December could become one of the biggest matches of their league phase campaign.

At home, Paris Saint-Germain will provide one of City’s toughest tests, while Napoli should also offer a significant challenge at the Etihad.

Away trips to Porto and RB Leipzig add further difficulty to the schedule, meaning City will need to perform consistently throughout all eight matches if they are to secure automatic qualification for the Round of 16.

Barcelona v Manchester City

Manchester City’s trip to Barcelona is arguably the headline fixture of their Champions League league phase campaign.

The two clubs have met several times in European competition, and there is also a strong connection between City and Barcelona through players, coaches and their respective footballing philosophies.

A Champions League night in Barcelona is always a major occasion, and this fixture should attract significant attention across Europe.

Barcelona v Manchester City takes place on 8 December 2026.

What Does the Champions League Draw Mean for Manchester City?

Expectations at Manchester City remain high, despite significant changes heading into the 2026/27 season.

The Champions League draw gives City a demanding but exciting schedule, combining major fixtures against Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli with matches against teams they will expect to compete strongly against.

Their home fixtures could prove especially important.

PSG and Napoli provide two major tests, while matches against AEK Athens and Sporting CP offer City the opportunity to collect valuable points in front of their own supporters.

Away from home, Barcelona will be the headline occasion, while Porto and RB Leipzig should also provide difficult European tests.

Each club plays eight matches against eight different opponents, with four fixtures at home and four away.

Once all eight games have been completed:

  • Teams finishing 1st–8th progress directly to the Round of 16.
  • Teams finishing 9th–24th enter the knockout phase play-offs.
  • Teams finishing 25th–36th are eliminated from European competition.

Unlike the previous Champions League group stage, City will not play the same opponents home and away during the league phase. Read our full guide to the 2026/27 Champions League.
