Trivium are an American heavy metal band formed in Orlando, Florida. Led by vocalist and guitarist Matt Heafy, the band are known for combining elements of thrash metal, metalcore and progressive metal with powerful melodies and technical musicianship.

Trivium formed in 1999 and released their debut album, Ember to Inferno, in 2003. Their breakthrough came with Ascendancy in 2005, which established them as one of the leading bands in the new generation of modern metal.

Trivium are primarily considered a heavy metal band, with their music incorporating elements of thrash metal, metalcore, progressive metal and melodic death metal. Their sound has evolved considerably throughout their career.
