Starting on Monday 8th December, the office came alive each day at lunch and break times, with everybody getting involved to throw some darts, log their scores and cheer each other on. Whether it was a treble twenty or the odd wild dart, everyone got involved and played their part.
Mini office tournaments took place throughout the week, sparking plenty of friendly competition, and encouragement from the sidelines. It wasn’t about being the best thrower, it was about taking part, supporting each other and enjoying the challenge.
Throughout the week, we also welcomed a steady stream of visitors. A big thank you to all the clients who popped in to knock a few points off our total (and enjoy a brew), as well as our friends in the office below who took part! Their support helped keep the momentum going all week.
One of the highlights of the week was seeing how many people got involved, regardless of experience. From seasoned players to first-time throwers, everyone was encouraged to step up, have a go and contribute to the total. It was a great reminder that the challenge wasn’t just about points on the board, but about coming together as a team to support Macmillan and the vital work they do for people affected by cancer.
We wrapped up the challenge on Friday with an all-day office tournament, as colleagues went head-to-head in friendly competition to push us closer to our target. With plenty of arrows flying and a pizza delivery to keep everyone fuelled, the office was buzzing from the first throw to the last.
As the afternoon rolled into the evening, the atmosphere only grew, with friends and family joining us to support the cause by donating and stepping up to the oche themselves. What started as a workplace challenge quickly turned into a real community effort, with plenty of encouragement and support flowing through the office.
The dress code was, of course, darts shirts or green for Macmillan. The positivity, energy and team spirit amongst the team throughout the day made it such a memorable way to close out the challenge.
Macmillan Cancer Support provides essential help for people living with cancer, from emotional care to financial guidance. Supporting this challenge was our way of giving back, coming together as a team and making a difference.
